4x4 touch up paint

Right here goes.
I have had conduite rub the paint off of the cab down to bear metal in areas where the wires were cable tied to the canopy.
I have purchased some paint, primer and base coat and I was going to rub down and spray the area.
But I think I may be better off touching it up with a brush or similar.
Can I touch up the area first with primer then mix some base and clear and touch that in after?

Does 4x4 paint grip better? Can you get away with not cleaning the surface first?

exactly as you said, but being a 4x4 you obviously need a special brush , moulded handle for better grip, longer bristles for better flow ...sorry could nt resist

I had some cable in the corrigated conduite from solar pannel running down there it was cable tied to the canopy. That has been rubbing over the last year! So now I am going drill the roof of the new canopy and have no wires running down on the outside.

at least its rubbed it down nicely for you , not much prep needed there

indeed, I was going mask it and spray but that seems excessive when I can just touch it up with a brush
