Were they wet brakes?First brake replacement on a 1981 Ford 4600 tractor. Not sure how many hours on it because the clock stopped working around 15 years ago at 24,000 hours.

Yes oil immersedWere they wet brakes?
There's only 0.5mm wear on the disc's and plates but unfortunately that's enough to let the actuator turn and the pull rod cuts through the seal. What's wrong with them? looks like there is at least another 20 years left in them.
It's been on a 6 ton feeder wagon since new. Running seven days a week from march till December. I must take a picture of the PTO shaft the splines are nearly gone.A busy little tractor (at least early in its life). That would be about 6 1/2 hours running at PTO engine rated speed for its first ten years!
As I recall, we could actually manage 27 recorded run-hours in a day with a Ford 5000, with pump opened up to about 2700rpm, cultivating day and night. PTO rated engine speed was 1900rpm.
