40 mm 11/2 inches long cut nails

Hello All
We are looking for 1 1/2 inch 40 mm long cut nails, hunting the internet, I can only find 2 inch 50 mm ones, I know the first thing you'll say is cut them down to size and we can do that but then someone will say why did'nt you ask and tell us where we can get them from . We need quite a few too.

Read this entirely wrong. I thought you needed 40mm dia nails that were 11.5 inches long! I was fascinated to know what you're building!

Are you sinking old floor boards onto the original joists?

The link gives will give you nails to do the job, but if you are using 3/8 to 3/4 floor boards don't forget to drill and counter bore the holes to allow for wood walk.

And as @The_Yellow_Ardvark says predrill your hole first esp if using new boards old boards aren't to bad esp if your going back to the old joists
ALWAYS drill the ends of the boards to stop them splitting
But dont worry every sparky and plumber will know how to ruin them when lifting anyway

Thank you for your quick replies gents, we have followed up your response tlovatt and they are just what we were looking for , we are nailing down reclaimed floor boards onto a modern floor and do not want the nails to go through the original boards, thank's for your advice stalwart_hmic that all makes sense there will be no sparkys or plumbers tearing it up, that's for sure. desmo11225 PS It really is a good site though, so much info between us all.

Forgive me if i'm reading this wrong, your putting old boards onto what you have down at the moment(as i look at it)?
Boards should be fixed to the existing joists not on top,if thats the case how thick are these reclaimed ones

It's the office at the work shop stalwart-hmlc, which will be part of an olde worlde museum when it's finished, there are lots of old tools to exhibit as well , so there's no foot traffic there it's up stairs as well, my friend is a first class carpenter/ joiner and likes to do all sorts.
