I'm looking to get a TIG machine, and am attracted to the AC/DC TIG/stick/plasma machines which seem to have flooded the market. The main points which appeal to me are:
1. Versatility
2. Would keep me entertained in the workshop for a long time - Sort of rephrasing point 1
3. Compact
The one I'm keen on is a 200A welder/50A plasma cutter, which would suit my needs as primarily I'm restoring minis (gotta have a plasma cutter for that), and building smaller scale items (i.e. S/S furniture, brackets, car & motorcycle modifications). In other words, normal 'hobby' use.
I'd like a foot control, but out of the box they seem pretty well specced and the ones I'm looking at has good backup. I don't need any industrial features, like water cooled torches etc.
Are there any caveats I should be aware of? Are they limited in another way which I haven't noticed yet?
And thanks in advance for any advice.
Cheers,
Simon.
