3D printer filament

I have just started building up my creality Ender 5 pro, i need to order some filament but i am new to the whole 3D printing world so basically i want something to mess about with, any place to order from?

Whan I dabbled I used these Guys and always got good Filament and service.

Same, I usually use eSun PLA+. Just checked their site and I see they do a Creality resin printer for £210. Thought they were much more expensive than that. Of course, I don’t need one……

I only print in PETG (as I'm making functional stuff rather than models). Most things get printed in this stuff as it's cheap and I've had zero issues with it. I think you can get PLA even cheaper if that's what you're interested in using.

I've been using Ender PLA filament from Amazon recently and it is pretty good. I think I paid roughly £17.50 per spool if I bought 3 or more.

I've used these peeps for years (I only print with PLA though). Never had a clog with their stuff, unlike others I've used. They're my go-to now and it's nice that it's made in the UK. Not the cheapest, but consistent.

I usually use Amazon, but check the reviews for any brands I've not used before. However if you stick to Amazon own brand, Sunlu, Joyo, eSun, and Overture that should give you a good selection for something to start with.

To start with, just go for PLA/PLA+
It's one of the easiest materials to print.

This is a very timely thread, I recently acquired a 3d printer and am currently researching this very topic, so thanks!

I had a pal over last Saturday to 'commission' it and am hoping to do a test print this Saturday when he returns after me getting a few missin items like the micro SD card reader and a power cable that's long enough to reach!

I will be posting pics in the 3d printing section (if successful!).

Yes Thomas Hoof (3D printz) is in Telford.
Good filament but not the cheapest..

In fact I put Thomas onto 3D gloop and the US stuff he now imports.
I don't buy much from him as I have too much from here https://www.3dqf.co.uk/factory-shop
I purchased during covid.
Then we were not needed as they banned our face masks.

They have invested a lot in new production gear.

You would be well advised to jump on West Midlands 3D printing group on Facebook.

It's worth following them on Facebook as they blog the install of a new production line etc.

I've had some truly terrible stuff from 3DQF, their sizing is all over the place, many other had the same issues too. There's a reason they're cheap.

I try to buy UK manufactured filament. I like the Altec product and have had no problems with 3DQF. In fact I've had no problem with any of the filament I've bought, whether it's from UK sources or Amazon, and I've bought Sunlu, ZIRO, Prusa, Filamentive, Eryone and some flexible stuff.

As I said they have had a brand new production line fitted which people can follow on Facebook.
Having said that I have run approx 10 spools through my ender 3 and had no issues yet.

The new production line ! So our current production process has limitation, mainly due to the fact the line was made purely for PLA or at least it evolved that way. You could almost say a mad science experiment that became so focused making a single product that it progressed pass the point of...

Yea they told me that before about having new QA so I tried another 2 rolls from them after and they were still shocking - there were lumps in a 1.75mm spool that were 2-2.1mm thick. That's insane errors. I can get cheap chinese filament way better than that.
