Hi. On a lot of my car rebuilds I'm often left with cavities (door pillars, axle reinforcing tubes, sills, etc) which I want to paint but are too small to get a spary or brush into.
These parts are usually acid dipped during restoration, so I know the internals are bare steel at the point of painting. I do use hot-dip galvanising on heavier parts but this isn't appropriate for thinner parts.
Historically I've always just used cavity wax - I already have a pro injection gun. But after seeing this fail on me a few times, moving forwards I'd like these to be coated with paint and I've seen a few products come to market with simple 360-degree nozzles on the end of a hose. There's a guy selling these hoses/nozzles on ebay and before I buy a stack, I thought I'd ask here. I'll probably go over it with cavity wax once cured.
Just before I order some nozzles, be keen to know if anyone has used them or, before I get these chuck-away nozzles for rattle cans, is there an industry tool that lends itself to spraying cavities and box section with paint? Some sort of gun with lance maybe? Obviously not a cavity wax gun, I've already got one of those, but one for paint.
Failing that I'll just buy a stack of the nozzles and give it a whirl - the sorts of paint I'll be using are zinc-rich primers and single-stage automotive topcoat. Hoping that the rattle can nozzles are a standard size so that they'll fit on any aerosol.
Here's the nozzle:
and here's a couple of products that use them (won't be buying these particular paints, just by way of example) - Eastwood and buzzweld
