360 action cameras

anyone got any experience with the cheaper ones?

i want to get one to just see how well it works for what i want before buying a decent gopro or insta branded one...and i can almost gurantee its going to fall off the crane at some point so id rather that happen to a cheap one so i can sort a proper mount out before buying a decent one.

looking at this sort of thing to start and then eventually to kee as a back up / second camera.

it would be mounted to the cat head, potentially 60+ meters in the air, and alos on top of the cab while operating and possibly driving

EDIT, ive realised the linked camera isnt actually a 360 degree camera...looks like the cheapest half decent one is actually a gopro

Im sure you can manage to knock up a mount that wont fall off in a slight breeze, the batteries on these things arent great, but remotes are useful and work with a decent distance. I have the insta X4

thats the sort of thing im after. remote isnt a huge concern for me, i would be setting it up on specific jobs where i know the stuff i want to capture is within the battery life window so would just set it running and then leave it there.

or mount it to the hook block so i can retrieve it to change batteries as and when.

a mount wouldnt be a huge issue to print, its just getting something that doesnt interfere with moving parts on the crane and still gives enough of a view without being flimsy, there are a fair few mounting places to choose from on the top of the boom.

Would a non-360, DJI Action be of any interest? Few years old but the quality is very good.

I wouldnt know if the 360's are similar or worse, but theres quite a fisheye wide view lens on action cams. It makes them no good for filming tree work or anything else, from any distance, and I'm not a fan of wearing it.

I want the 360 specifically to be able to catch as much as possible at once so in the edit I can show my son different aspects of the job, like loading the cranes ballast onto the tray, and stuff like
