316 stainless plate 6mm thick 2mx1m

i know metal prices are not the best at the moment but anyone know what a sensible price for a sheet of 316 stainless plate 6mm thick 2mx1m.
first quote in £462.50 plus vat
only want 1m x 1m but will prob have to buy full sheet unless anyone knows better.

its got to be flat plate need to fabricate a pair of rudders for an ali catamaran.

Bought in a bit virtually the right size.

If you are a casual buyer, that is a little expensive but not far out, I costed for a 2 x 1 x 6mm 304 a couple of weeks ago at £385. material was more than the customer wanted to pay for the whole job, clueless some of them!.
I would see how much you can get the parts you need laser cut for, anyone cutting 6mm will nest them with another job and you don't pay for so much wastage, and saves time on the fabrication too.
I use Premier Laser in corby http://premierlaser.co.uk/, they send stuff all over the country.

all drawings for rudder parts are in dwg format ,same as when the boat kit was cut so should be straight forward.
they have allready been nested onto a full 2x1 sheet giving 70% wastage hence i don't really want to buy a full sheet .

na its got to be 316l stainless ,will be coded for paying passengers when finished.
got tons of 5083 flat plate scrap after kit boat was cut.
5mm,6mm,&15mm .
kit used 41 sheets of 5 & 6mm 5083 6m x 2m plate.
2 sheets 2x1 15mm 5083 plate and a load of extrusions.
will have to post some pics of the build its coming on a treat.
would not like to try and buy the ali now.
builds been on the go for the last 4 years its a huge job .

Was some old Fairey thing the one did.
Paul's idea probably a good bet.
We get a fair bit of stainless from Richard Austin Alloys, or Avon Steel. Only takes a moment to give them a call.

Richard Austins get all our stainless and ally supply, i have found they are typically 10-15% cheaper than some of the others.
