300 mm cold steel engineers punches 10 mm tip

I'm trying to locate somewhere that sells big punches ... I'm after two times 12 inch or so ( not much smaller ) punches made from 25 mm or so hex carbon steel or such like material bar ....tapered down to 10 mm .

I have tried various search engines but they don't seem to recognise such items for they keep bunging up hole punches or tiny pin punches .

I do not know of a local blacksmith ( are there still such people )

I want the punches to wallop into pre drilled holes 12 mm going right through in 8 inch or so of thick old wall foundation concrete so I can split it off in 300 mm blocks and carefully remove it .

I'm putting in a new slotted concrete post fence with drop in fence panels and this old wall foundation just happens to weave in and out the whole 15 post run.
So far it is taking me .... three days to break off the old block wall , rest for a few days ,then predrill the foundation , rest a day or so then with the help of my lass carefully bash a 30 mm mild steel bar of 5 feet in length in to the middle hole to bust it apart.
I'm thinking that two big punches wellied in with a lump hammer whilst I'm on my knees will be easier on my bust up spine .

I cannot use a breaker as it's far to much for my bust spine and wrecked shoulder.


Have any of you got any places for me to check out on line please?

I use bits of old macine tynes for such tools...

What ou are looking for is more like a drift pin or bull pin rather than a punch.

I played with Google for the umptheenth time this last few weeks and put in extra long punches and got exactly what I'm after off eBay

What you need is a hilti drill and needle burster. Our smallest burster uses a 32mm hole, you drill the hole in as far as the burster fits and then use the burster to split the concrete. The one shown here is a 2" hydraulic burster but you should be able to hire a smaller one from a local concree cutting firm.

I read that, it's not a breaker - it's a burster, you poke the needle in the hole, hit the switch and stand back to watch it work. Very quick, very quiet and very not-breaker-ish

The weight and vibration would be a back breaker to me unless it is less than 8 KG ( not to mention having to lug a 3kva transformer about over rough ground )


Sorry to appear so thick ..I'm having a weird day ...
I read you saying it is hydraulic ... is it operating a hydraulic piston ? Or is it a device that would need a hydraulic pump set for operating power ?

Do you not have to hold it in place when it is operating ?

My SDS ( redhead type ) on hammer is hard going for me with a 19 mm masonry let alone a 32 mm one. Are there alternative size bits to the buster ?


All explained I clagged concrete burster into google and found a vidclip ..looks the gear
I'll have to see if I can find some pals to bore the full length of the foundation after they remove the last three layers of laid flat mortared in concrete blocks.

Usually they are hydraulic although I did once use an all-electric one, was about 14 yrs ago though. They do weigh more than 8kg as it's nearly all hydraulic ram. I've never seen one smaller than 32mm - but that doesn't mean they don't exist!

Got my long punches this afternoon .

The 450 x 19mm x8 mm one is a brill ..high speed concrete busting non expanding bolt when inserted in a 12 mm through hole in 8 inch 30 yr old concrete & belted a couple of times with a three pound lump hammer . It's far quicker than rawl bolts and much easier to do for my hands are well up above any rubble etc .

They don't. You can drill a 20mm hole easily within 2" of the egde of a concrete slab (outside the rebar) and tighten it until the threads strip and it won't affect even quite poor concrete. I have used those achors 1/2" from the edge before and put a heavy load on them.
