2T and 4T

what does this mean? Ive seen it on a lot of the hf dc tig sets ive been looking at but don't know what it does

2T is press and hold the torch switch to weld, release to stop, 4t is a latching mode, momentary press press to start and press again to stop

I really only like using 4T nowadays....much nicer than having to keep pressure on the switch.

If you machine has the option....

I only ever bother to use it on long runs on the MIG/MAG sets, never on the TIG.

I use 4T all the time. Mine is one press for gas then a second press for hf so beginning the weld. If the second press isn't fast enough the gas switches off and so the order is reset.
On stopping the weld, one press brings in the down slope or two quick presses shuts off the arc instantly.

It does cause problems with production welders on different shifts, the number of times I've been called to a welder that's not working properly to find the previous shift welder has set it to 4T or enabled creep start.
