2K Rapture/Primer Roller Recommendations.

Hi,

I have searched for a while and unsure which would be the best to use when rollering chassis rapture 2k paint with. I was advised to use Harris ones, i will be getting some of their brushes as well for the job. I want to try and get the best appearance to the paint as i can get, as close to the spray effect as possible.

I dont want the roller to be too large as its for the floor pan and as said its for 2k paint.

langy advised the foam 'gloss' rollers in one of your earlier threads, I bought a family size pack and some disposable roller tray liners though I still have not got my epoxy primer so can not comment on their use.

George i thought i replied to one of your earlier threads explaining i used foam gloss radiator rollers (Wickes actually)
The finish is never going to be anywhere near a sprayed finish though, The idea is you get the primer on without having to spray it.

Who told you to use Harris, bad advice i'm afraid as you won't be cleaning them out, cheap throwaways are your friend here.

2k WOOL roller, that will look nice paint full of strands of wool

Thanks, i have a memory like a sieve, but then i have been very busy of late.

The 2k rapture paint seller said

"U-pol recommend the use of a lambswool roller or a top quality Harris type brush"

its good to know that the cheap foam types are the ones to use. Its a good job i didn't accept the previous advice then, i thought because the rapture is a thick type of paint (assuming) that is why the wool was recommended ?

Protection is more important than looks, so thats ok.

why not get a aldi compressor and a cheap shutz gun...will look sprayed then

always sell the compressor after youre done

My local Aldi is too small to sell compressors and i dont have an air fed mask or the cash for one. My old dry compressor needs to have a new cylinder fitted but not got the time for that. This is why i have to roller it on, i'm not too bothered about the looks as its part of the chassis and will be a dark grey colour too.

No thread yet not enough time, its a 92 205 GTi having a Xsara 39k 2.0 ltr 16 valve engine transplant.

What are peoples view on the above quote that was from Upol apparently ?

Sorry when i said ive searched i meant Google, not here.

I found this, it doesn't say anything about which type of roller to use but it does say it can be applied with the surface being scuffed up with using a roller/brush etc.

I'll give them a call tomorrow at some point, get a few other questions answered, they maybe able give me a cheaper supplier, you never know. Its about the same price as plastidip but has way better adhesion and abilities. Dont quote me on this but it seems to be like a super stonechip.

George if you have a Cat you could stick a handle up its **** and dip in the paint, should be an acceptable equivalent finish and it will be very cheap too

Im glad its all sorted out, i can now steam ahead to finish it off once i get the stuff.

I spoke to upol and they advised to use the lambswool type roller, they tried others and found it is the best type to use with their rapture paint.

I tried a few paint places and prices are around the £90 mark, which is much more expensive than the ebay seller, which is a surprise tbh with ebay fees etc.

I would close this thread now its sorted with the correct answers but this forum doesn't have that option, does it ?

I got another price, £83.94 inc VAT is the best so far and thats collected, so ebay is still cheapest with postage included in the price.
