2k lacquer over everything?

Just painting a bike frame and a few other bits at the moment with aerosols from Halfords. The paint is **** but I didn't have time to wait for anywhere else in the right colors.. So anyway I am thinking that after it's all painted I could send it off to my dads place for a few coats of 2k lacquer? I have used 2k lacquer on stuff before and found it to be good and strong, but will it react with the Halfords paint? I have some lettering to do on it as well which I was going to use some modelling paint, like Tamiya/Humbrol stuff.. how about that in terms of reactions?

I'm thinking if I leave it for a few days so it's all cured and stuff then it should be alllllll good?

Problem is the clear coat needs to be painted as soon as the base flashes off it won't adhere properly otherwise.

Dayummmm. I have painted most of it today then I was apply some vinyl lettering and touch a few bits up then clear coat it on Tuesday.. is this going to make a big messy bicycle abortion?

My thought is if you did the 2k clear over the 1k acrylic within the normal time specified for 1k how would the solvents evaporate from the acrylic.

if you have graphics to add I lay on the base then apply one coat of clear to seal the base then add graphics then finish clear

I have always followed your advice Langy and the results have always been good! So I will continue to do so. Will leaving it for a few days then clear coating make a big difference?

Rob the basecoat your using will have an overcoating window, they all vary but can be 18-36 hrs depending on make, if your outside the window the clear is likely not to stick.
The way I do graphics is to base up and lay down a clear coat then grey scotch and add graphics then clear over the top, first coat needs to be light as it can wrinkle any graphics, that make sense ?
