29 9 rods

hi all

quick question don't see it in the electrode reference section

29 9 rods is this the more common term for 7018 electrode. The rods I am referring to are the ones that leave a silver line of weld

was burning a few 29 9s at the weekend (went for them over ordinarly 6013s and they seemed to be that bit harder to light) and where would run the 6013s at 160amps would want 180amps with the 29 9s


was using an old AC machine though

29.9 rods are a type of stainless steel 29 Cr 9 Ni designed for welding "difficult-to-weld" steels such as En 24T. They can also be used for joing SS to MS and LA steels.

They are NOT a 7018, in comparison they will be around 10x the price of a 7018 or a 6013.

They may need a bit more current as they are usually heavier coated (obviously depends on the brands)
