Jesus.
sent a welder to a repair firm as it was low on power.it was reading 170 amps instead of 200 at full tilt, and the OCVs were 55 instead of 80.got it back during the week and tested it out today.dialled in 100 amps,3.2mm 6013 and struck an arc.bloody rod went through 12mm of steel.played around with the dial and it welded close to normal at 12 indicated amps.
strange.got the meter out and ocvs were about 3.strange as it doesnt have vrd and even if it did 3 is tiny.couldnt check arc voltage as I was on my own.i burned a bit of a rod and straight away dropped the holder and picked up the meter.230v dc at the terminals.it goes back down to ~3 after 15 or so seconds.long enough to wake you up in the morning id imagine.sent a polite email to firm and waiting to hear back.stellar job all round.
