205 TE 'Spot Timer' function

We have a Clarke 205 at the uni motor club and for some reason i cant get it produce much more than a long tack.
- Seems to be something to with the spot timer as i can adjust the time i can get it to produce a weld with the but cannot get more than about 5second from it. Tried pulling/pushing/twisting it and cant seem to turn it off!!

I know the 205 te has a short duty cycle, but its longer than 5seconds!

Spot timer isnt seamly mentioned in the pdf manual on machine marts website.

I think that's the issue, the spot weld timer needs to be off for normal welding.

Yes i very much agree, but how do you turn it off!

yes, well me too, but it appear that either it isnt that simple (?) or thats its broken (and wants fixing)

The time can be varied fairly badly with the nob, but never got to be more than about 5seconds! Not really use full if trying to do seam welds in 5mm plate.
