Thinking of hitting the go button on a new converted day van built on the above...Anyone have any dealings with them and whats the drivetrain like..its the 2.2D. Getting MOT,d tomorrow down to a class4.

Engines like to go bang. Last count, 8% of the fleet at work have had major engine failures.
I condemned a timing chain on a 22 plate last week with fairly low mileage.

Thermostat housings and EGR coolers like to leak.

Gearboxes seemed to have improved since the last time I dealt with them in any great numbers.

Suspension on them is pretty harsh.

Is it worth losing 500kg load capacity?

all post 2020 vans are crap. imho the relay is the least crap, but that REALLY isnt saying much.

Fiat Chrysler and PSA groups amalgamated in 2021 and turned peugeot etc into worse quality pseudo american *****... that about covers it.

but still better than ford etc wet belt vans.

If it has or had a roof rack. It will leak.
That leads to issues.
Add blue. If fitted can have injector or relay issues.
Tracking is easy to knock out when a heavy load is in the back,

Check to see if you have the locking wheel sockets.

Of yes. Expansion bottle cap seizes on.

Plus the dust caps can as well. The tyre pressure sensor fail at the time tyres are changed

merc sprinter is the way to go

2.1 engine is better than 2.0 (2.1 ran up to 19reg and a few in 20reg)

The boss bought two for work at the end of last year that were a couple of years old. When they were delivered the workshop manager didn’t say a word just fell over in hysterics. The boss no longer owns two Relays! Nuff said!
We use Transporters, Crafters, Vitos and Sprinters.

just done MOT check...168,000 long miles ....next, might up the budget and go VW crafter as reading they seem the best of the worst Euro6

We get these brand new or nearly new with very low mileage. They aren’t treated the best by our drivers and do plenty of miles, but they have regular servicing and have proved to be reliable.

But wait, after the Transit engine they went to eco blue wet belt engines - is this just different sh1t? In the process of trading in our Transit for a 2024 boxer based motorhome...
Tend to agree, outside of Merc, everything else is different shades of poo.
Oops, forgot about Crafters, yes, mostly OK, gearbox issues sometimes..

I'm after a sprinter fridge van to replace an older one... in no hurry but have a look around now and again

I'd like a 19 or 20 reg with the 2.1 engine.... I'll see a van, think... well it's more that I want to spend but it might be nice.... then look and it has 300k miles on it


our drivers do heavy miles and don't give them an easy life
