I am going to need a piece approx 200 mm in diameter.
Not sure of center size but eventually it will be slit 8nto two halves.

So I might need solid or (if they supply it) Tube. Assuming I can get a close size.

I think I will need. 4 inch long piece

Why did you split it and stick it back together. Was it so the two shells/bearings touch when fitted but would be twice the thickness of the slitting blade short if you split it after machining it?

Also why did you give it Scott to machine and not do it on your lathe? (Other than his lathe eould be quicker) ?

Never had a problem with Leeds bronze in the 13 years I have used them. Never found the same material cheaper elsewhere either. Always good service,well packed and delivery in a couple of days….And they aren’t exactly local to me either….

I never did. Then over the last year or two I’ve had to chase a few times even to get an answer to an enquiry.

I just put it down to world events.

On the whole, they’re very good.

Just had this done, much cheaper than buying a bit the wrong size and turning it into swarf
That’s 5” with 2.25 core

It's actually 80mm OD 70mm ID and 200mm long? So a bit less scary both of price and a potential cock up.

I have a bit lying in the workshop that is probably that size but afraid it is being kept as I got it a few years ago and the prices will definitely have ballooned since then.

Never had a problem with them (and I've seen your later updates, so I'd agree, world issues) and also always had good technical advice too.

Don't necessarily go to them with "I want a lump of phosphor bronze . . ." - go to them with "I want to do this, what can you recommend . .?" Some of our applications are pretty horrible in terms of loading and life required.

There's been some useful developments in alloys used for bushes.

Edited to add, some of the useful advice received in the last year or two meant I used a 300mm dia lump of Peek derivative - ie they suggested there were better alternatives to what they could supply for that application in that environment.

Diameters sound standard, even if length doesn't - stack commercially available bushes up to get length ? Or go to one of the bush suppliers and get them to make it - might be cheaper when you work out time required and factor in scrap risk?
