2 post lift lower bearing oil

Hi all,

Have just installed a Tecalemit sf8837 2 post lift in the workshop, the lower bearing has an oil reservoir which a sponge on the main screws also dips into to lubricate the screw.

According the manual I need 449 8023 oil to put in the reservoir but I nor google have no idea what that is seeing as the lift might be around 20 years old.

I'll get in touch with Tecalemit but for the mean time does anyone now what kind of oil might be suitable for this? Some sort of engine or gear oil? Something reasonably thin I would have thought seeing as it will always be cold.

My thought would be for something thick or more accurately clingy, like chainsaw bar oil.

Designed to stay on moving parts.

I think thixotropic is the word.

Thin when moving but solid when not.

Are they bronze or fibre nuts
Mine are bronze I just use 10 / 40 been fine for the last 16 years

Cant remember what it was called, but the oil used to lubricate the front suspension bottom trunions on Morris Minors and Triumph Heralds etc, was lovely thick gooey stuff. a bit like treacle consistancy.

Same here double boost.
I always run the lift to the top and back before I put the car on to relubricate the screw as it can be a while between uses.

Mine is used all day never been a problem

10W/40 in mine too. Be mindful if doing a lot of grinding on the elevated car. Gets the dust all over the screw.

Bronze mains and I think the safety nuts are nylon.

Bit of 10/40 it is then.

Wont be a huge amount of grinding, lift is mostly for mechanical purposes, it has screw curtain plates anyway.

Safety's on mine are steel - same lift.

Anything from Tecalemit is a rip off. GED are ok. Two types of lift nut, long slot and short slot know which you need in advance.
I struggled to get a refund from GED when they over charged me for oil dippers - I needed one, they invoiced 4 and sent only 1.

Tecalemit wouldnt tell me the grade of oil, only try and sell me 2 litres for about £25. So its been filled up with 10/40.

Safetys may be steel, they are sort of a flattened cube with a rubber sheath on the outside.

Mains are good for now, according to the manual. Only occasional use so I expect them to last a long time.

Oil dippers could probably do with replacing though.
