2.5 Ton Quick Lift Air Jack

Partly due to lack of space I am starting to find it a chore jacking certain vehicles with my two trolley jacks so I have been considering purchasing an air jack like one of these. I was wondering if anyone else on here has one or similar and could shed any light on how good they are.

A mobile tyre fitter used something similar on my car, it worked very well.

Id be wary about using them without any axle stands, as with any air bag they do deflate a little sometimes, used to use them in a garage and ours dropped an inch over an hour, mind you it was getting on a bit! Other than that theyre good, just mind you get them seated right, but i suppose you could say that about any jack!

That's essentially why I'm considering the air jack to make stand placement easier in the gap I sometimes have to work in. I have a pair of trolley jacks, a 2t long reach high lift Clarke with a quick foot pedal and a short 2.5t Sealey and mostly I favour the Clarke due to the foot pedal but manipulating this around in a confined space can be a pain. Using the short Sealey is ok but the lack of quick up foot pedal can be equally frustrating due to the handle length as the Clarke will lift small cars on the pedal with ease.

I have considered buying one of the cheap air over hydraulic bottle jacks to pinch the pump off and modifying it to go on the Sealey so it would work like the air jack and be positionable by the handle which you then use to let it down. There are some cars I have to use a scissor jack to get either of the trolley jacks under in the first place as they are so low even with the cup removed!

Just an update, the sellers feedback started to put me off with some comments about the Chinese jack so I found a used Dunlop two bag jack in "reconditioned condition" for just under £150 delivered. Needs an air silencer on the valve but works lovely, shame about the rattle can reconditioning but it's a good bit of kit and I can reach the rear axle centre on a Jensen quite easily now to get it on stands. Lifts from 6" to just over 13" and I will soon make a couple of extensions to go higher.
