hi nick
that's quite thick for a car, unless you doing some chassis work,
but the weld looks good, is mostly panel work you be doing
if so they are about 0.8mm....
It's a Peugeot 205 on which I'm repairing sections of floor pan, some underside sections and if I can gain enough confidence a section of the OS A pillar. The original metal measures approx. 1mm on the floor pan, where I can check it. I suspect the A pillar is about the same.
Our metalwork supplier at work donated a good amount of 1mm Zintec sheet for the project, so that's what I'm working with. Might also get some help cutting some of the profiles I need as well.
My main aim at present is to get confident enough on thin sheet to tackle some of the no cosmetic repairs. I'm going to grind down the practice weld tonight and see how it looks (was welding at 11pm last night so too late to fire up the grinder!).

Nick it's worth getting some cereal boxes as the card is a good match for the metal. Then you can cut, fold and shape the card to get a good fit/match to the hole then use this to cut and shape you patch.
