153db crazy bike horn

As a cyclist I am at the mercy of other road users so I had to think of a way to fight back so I made this crazy contraption, for fun mainly







The main body is made from metal...



With a plywood battery holder





Nice black paint job



The wiring was a little hard to squeeze in

Can't think of a single positive thing to say about it. Just be careful how you use it, because:

I was driving up the road when I noticed a black car who was turning left up a side street but was stopped half way over the junction. Odd, I thought. I pulled out to go past and noticed there was an old lady face down on the road. I drove 50 yards up the road, stopped in the first place I could, got out and ran back. She was bleeding from her head, with her left leg noticeably shorter than the right and her left foot grossly over rotated and clearly in a world of pain.

The stars misaligned for the poor lady. She had a walking aid, had been just shy of a bus stop and signaled for the bus to stop but it kept driving past. She'd then tried to nip through a side street to get to the next stop in order to catch the bus. She was then crossing a road when this black car had apparently become frustrated at how long it was taking her so blared his horn (what the f*** did he think he was going to achieve?), gave her a fright and caused her to lose balance, hit deck.

I bet your dying for someone to cut u up so u can use them down side is if u frighten someone and they get a nark on u might get filled in or they will knock u off it for being clever

I've often thought horns like that aimed left across the handlebars would be great for drivers using mobile phones. With a camera on even better.

You need a rear carrier with a couple of concrete blocks on to balance it out as well

Lol I love it superb! I have some 180db train horns on my van very usefull!

You wanna be careful with loud horns...there was a bloke Down this way prosecuted for causing an accident because of his horn. He was on a zzr600 and had pulled along side a woman that he had some issue with, blew the horn and she was that startled that she swerved and mounted the kerb taking a set of railing out and writing her car off...when measured the horns were something like 170db and were deemed to Ben the cause of the accident. Biker was given a few months time for it

I've got one perched on top of the workshop outside toilets With a length of 6mm pipe connected.

When a machine or Lorry driver comes in and uses the " facilities" I put my blow off gun on the pipe and give it a blast. Sometimes they don't see the funny side!

There was an incident I remember reading about a few years back where someone had a loud airhorn on a bicycle (powered off an aerosol I think). A car started to pull out of a side road into his path so he sounded his horn. Unfortunately the motorist then looked to see where the HGV that he could hear a horn from was coming from, totally distracting them from the approaching cyclist which he then hit. Case went to court and the cyclist was told that although not illegal, the horn was considered inappropriate and liable to cause accidents so although the car driver was fined for driving without due care and attention, the cyclist got a court judgement to remove it and fit a more conventional warning device.

I have to admit the little bell on my bike only really works for warning pedestrians on cycleways and bridleways, motorists can't hear it as far as I can tell.
