12v set top box/Netflix

Started by buying a TV for my lorry, as it was cheap in Aldi - which I may or may not regret yet, plus side it has a 3yr warranty, and it’s *apparently* designed for caravan use.

I watch a fair bit of Netflix while in on the road, generally it on in the background as live TV is a bore with all the adverts, soaps and repeats of the same five episodes. This is usually on my phone as the laptop can’t keep up with the video and it’s hops skips and jumps it’s way along - but that’s another problem for another day.

What I’m looking for is a USB devices, or a 12v Set Top Box that has the likes of Netflix, Prime or suchlike installed and accessible, I can use my phone as a Hotspot for the data side of things.

Any suggestions from the collective? I’m sure there are a number of people on here with a solution

EDIT: If I can help it, I’d rather not do the whole screen mirroring thing, as I’d like to leave my phone free for calls and texts if possible

Does your TV have an HDMI input? If so, just get a roku stick - can run netflix, amazon prime, now tv, bbc iplayer etc

TV has USB, HDMI, Aerial and Sat connections, Component and YPbPr.

Just had a look at the Roku stick and it looks ideal, I’ll check out the Amazon stock while I’m at it too

Fire TV. It's powered by USB so easy to plug in in the truck too.
Easy to use and voice control on the remote makes for quick browsing

Struggle with ir remotes now. Got so used to the Bluetooth remote with this and not having to point it anywhere to use it

Most streaming devices are low Voltage, even the NowTV box. As you have found, many are also USB powered so the world should be your lobster!

Was over your way last Friday, delivered a load of Terram membrane to Ulceby station, just past the truckstop. Gate was locked at 7 o’clock so I carried on to find somewhere to park and cook a bacon buttie, almost ended up at the bridge before finding anywhere .

May or may not help, but I got my telly about 6 years ago from the CDC trailer at Orwell Crossing truckstop. Ok, it wasn’t cheap, relatively speaking, but it comes with stuff that I know nothing about already installed, as well as the usual stuff such as Freeview, DVD player, etc. Got the keys to a 3 year old Topline Scania a few weeks ago, so tomorrow’s task is to install my new aerial, fit a swivelling arm bracket for the telly into the “odds and sods” pocket above the passenger door, and wire in the booster.

Am in the Freshney shopping centre in Grimsby tomorrow on a telecoms job, lifting stuff 5 stories up with the Hiab, so should hopefully have time to play .
