12v or 240v extractor in bathroom?

Hi all,

I'm about to have a new en suite fitted which will include replacing the extractor fan. The current one is in the wall and 240v but the new one is going in the ceiling above the shower enclosure. Doesn't this need to be LV (12v)? My bathroom fitter seems to think not

So long as it's 2.25m or more above the shower tray just buy a zone 1 fan and fit it.

Above the ceiling is the attic so it would need ducting out anyway so I'll look at those.

yeah inline is the way to go much more pulling power no need for LV then

I've checked the ceiling height and it's just over 2.45m, so to cover all the bases I'm ordering the bathroom fitter an inline fan and a 3 metres of ducting to fit.

id use 100mm soild pipe

flex from vent to fan then pipe to soffet and a bit of flex to out side vent making sure down hill to out side vent as condensation will collect in a flex pipe and just sit there

use an inline fan in the attic. maker sure it has some fall on the outlet pipe from the fan if using flexiduct mount it on a wooden plank so it wont sag and fill with water

if you use round gutter or even the square you can flex it into the loft rather easilly

the added bonus you can use gutter brackets as well

instead of a wood plank plastic window bottom is also handy as well as it gives you a screwable side
