10m pistol target

Hi all ,here's a 10m pistol target i made for the club i'm a member of , you aim at the hole and if your on target the pink disc's pop up in front (2nd photo), last photo shows some of the inside to give you an idea of how it works,after you have shot them all you pull on the wire to reset it , there is four plates with different size hole in that side in the front where the angle iron is to increase the difficulty right down to 10mm .

Like it I'm out of touch with shooting (put it this way, the last rifle I bought was a Sterling HR81 shortly after they were launched - in 1981!), what's the standard range for rifles now, 10m? I though pistols were 6m but my memory's not what it was...
I fancy putting a range in my workshop for rainy days...

hi wedg1e , there isn't really a standard for rifles in the course's we shoot,we have 30 targets and they can be anywhere between 8yd and 50yd , for pistols ! theres that many standards from 6yd to 25yd (i think thats right) we just stick to 10, thanks for taking the time to comment

you can mate , if you look at the photo's you can see an arm on the left hand side with a weight at the bottom , just tie your sting to the top of the arm and you can put it out as far as you like , when you have shot them all down pull the string and it resets it , nice and simple. thanks for taking the time to comment

Do you put a target on the plate through the hole ? That looks like a good set up for plinking, better than the cans my next door neighbour uses.

we do mate , its 9ft high and 50ft long all made out of concrete gravel boards haven't got any pictures of the full wall plus we painted it green to blend in a bit better.

hi pedrobedro , we just paint the inside disc's black,shows up nice and clear as the face plates have been sprayed white, i suppose if you wanted to you could (that gives me an idea , Thanks)

Stick up a bigger orange plate on a counter weight at 90 degrees to the pink axle setting so that when you hit it it re sets all targets , saves any one going down the range and having to stop shooting ..good for .22 rimfires as well but obviously needs to be a meatier set up.

or
You could go for an infra red / lazer beam controlled switch and 12 volt solenoid system ....but someone always for gets to recharge the battery

We used to comp shoot tin hat targets on a 25 mtr indoor range with number 8's or Anchutz target rifles on .22 rimfire

i use me airifle shooting rabbits at 25 yards rimfire at 60 yds or 80 with holdover
