First spotted when I got a small birds nest just before the wire goes into the liner at the machine end. Welder had been going great up to that point, especially as I had recently converted up from the disposable gas bottles to Hobbyweld (transformed my welds I think).
I have had this machine for about 11 months now and have been repairing two cars with it, I changed the liner for a new (metal) one just after I bought it and also replaced the swans neck liner at that time. I was not having any wire feed problems until this happened recently.
The wire feeds for around 4-6 inches then stops for about half a second then continues, at all wire feed speeds, I have also noticed that it struggles to strike an arc but I have put that down to wire stoppage/interruption. This is driving me crazy as I am almost finished welding on the car and want to get the MOT booked, it's like the last mile !
I think the drum is OK as it seems free enough (and the birds nest is after the feed roller) and the feed roller feeds without interruption so it seems like the wire is slipping in the feed roller. I have cleaned the feed roller and have now changed that and the tension bearing but it makes no difference.
I have put the original liner back in for now because it looks to be in better nick than the replacement one I bought, which appeared to have a bit of a kink in it up at the valve block. Is this a simple liner problem or something more complicated ???
