10-In-1 Tungsten Steel Grinding Head Set

Anyone got any experience of these? It says 10 but there's actually 11 shown in the picture.

Tungsten Steel usually means a tool steel with a Tungsten content. It's not usually a high enough Tungsten content to make it a High-Speed Steel because if it was high enough, the blurb would say HSS.

Effectively, they are just tool-steel burrs. In my experience, they work pretty well at low speeds on certain plastics which tend to melt if higher speeds are used and for which anything "better" is pointless. I used a few on Aluminium inlet manifolds about 35 years ago (6mm or 1/4" shank and around 12mm or 1/2" cutters), but that was before cheap Carbide ones were available from the Far East. I used expensive Carbide ones for Cast Iron at the time and ended up using the Carbide ones for Aluminium as well.

Unless you have a specific job for which tool steel will be particularly suitable, I'd suggest paying a little more and going for the Carbide equivalents.

Edit: I missed the "Tungsten Steel Solid Carbide" in the material description. That muddies the waters a bit.
Personally, I'd still look elsewhere and buy from a supplier that seems to have enough knowledge to write a better description.

Thanks, I suspected that carbide would be better, these caught my eye due to the small diameter shaft/use in a dremel basically.

I have the 1/4 garrison carbide cutters the best one is the cone shaped one. ive used it for years cutting a lot of stainless steel and mild steel paid 3 quid a piece from autojumbles

You need the 6mm\1\4" if you are doing any real work the 1\8" is light duty & as @brightspark says you want quality if you want any life out of them.
The problem is who does the quality thing, tried some Banggood hole cutters recommended by @doubleboost the price V quality was surprising, cut 20 x 35mm holes in 6mm plate, did use quality cutting fluid but it still cut the last hole like the first the set was about £12.00 for 5 different sizes

I don't own an air grinder with a chuck/collet set up, the only type I have will hold a cutting disc of around 3" in diameter, one is on my Xmas list, I would like to be able to use the larger diameter shank grinder bits one day. I have a Dremel and that does come in very useful at times too so a set of those types of bits does appeal to me, may not disintegrate/go to nothing like the other types you can buy. Lol

I have quite a few 1/4” shank burrs. Had them for years and still cutting well. Most of them by Sandvic. In the “bad”old days they were around £20-00 each. Luckily mine were free. Our power station carried about 20 to 30 each of all shapes. Used for grinding out NDT minor cracks in hp steam pipes and steam drums. Burrs were fine but the millions of wickedly sharp cuttings not so good.

The only advice I can offer about burs in an air die grinder is:

Wear safety glasses - even better wear a full face shield.

Down to how hard you push use them in a Dremel clone for light work, but it will still cut down welds if you are careful.
Have an old Wolfe flexi shaft for the 1/4" ones beast of a tool just keeps going thought the drive & chuck were expensive 50 years ago

The Dremel style have 3mm 1\8" shafts use gently, would not want to do big runs but ok on small bits.
