I have been using tweco 1135's to run .030 flux-cored wire.My mig welder manuel says to use 1 size bigger tip for the wire that you are using, all I can find is .045 tips,it's like 1mm is not a standard size herefor some reasons. My local welding shops don't carry 1mm,will have to order, real exspensive to do that.I can't find them on ebay either, don't know why?
I'm going to try the tweco 11-35's and hope I don't stick the wire to the tip.I quess I will just have to order some,I hate to go thru the welding supply houses because they are a little more expensive than say lowe's,home depot, walmart, tractor supply, etc.
Hey dugndeep. You can always drill tips out to size if it makes life easier. The drills bind and snap easily though, so watch out for it. Otherwise, just use the nearest available oversize tip for your wire, don't go metric if it's going to cost an arm and a leg.
I'd try the 0.035 tips. That is what is used on 0.35 flux wire. Should be no pronlem unless they are cheap tips.
I have not seen the requirement for a larger tip on flux cored wire.
I have drilled them out for use on 0.035" aluminum wire.
Look for a #60-80 drill bit set. #60 is 0.040. I bought them to drill out carb jets and found other uses for them. I picked up 2 sets off ebay for about $10.
In response to sbf, threaded portion too long.I tried the .035 tip, seems to work okay, not as tight on the .035 wire as I thought but it is a good roll of lincoln electric NR-211 MP flux-cored wire.I found some .040 tips,clarke-craftsman brand,no picture and no specs so I don't know if they will work or not.Just go with shenion and use the .035 tweco 11-35 tips, seemed to work alright earlier. What surprised me was the difference in the amount of weld you can lay down with .035 wire as compared with .030 wire, had to move the torch a little quicker to keep from piling the weld up.
Thanks for all of the help everybody.....doug
My welder is flux-cored only and the manual says to use 1 size bigger tip to allow for thermal expansion of the wire, that's all I know about it and was what I was trying to do to run .035 flux-cored wire.It came with .030 wire and a 0.9 mm tip installed plus a spare 0.9 tip.Seems to work alright running the same size tip as wire, who knows(lol)
