I've recently got a small transfer pump to help me mix veg oil and diesel and put it in the car. However the supplied foot valve (ie non-return valve at the end of the suction hose) is too big to fit into a jerry can. The 1" suction hose does of course fit down the neck and into the can.
The pump is a mains powered centrifugal 35 litres/hour, and as such needs priming before it'll move anything. I could forget about the foot valve and just suck on the delivery hose to pull diesel/veg oil up into the pump so it's primed, but it'd make things easier if the suction hose retained liquid until I was done for the day.
So my question is, does such a thing exist as a foot valve that fits snugly inside 1" hose? Or is it acceptable to maybe use a section of 3/4" hose with a smaller foot valve, joined to the 1" hose?
