i have some 1 1/4 bends that i use for pipe fitting would these be ok for a turbo manifold ? . there the sort of bends for industrial pluming high temp water and steam
Personally i`d be using stainless, have a search on here, theres loads of threads on building manifolds, i put up some links to useful articles in the projects section as well.
They may say high temp water and steam, but were talking exhuast gas here, a whole different story
Sorry, my bad, I must admit I hadn`t read the articles when I posted them, just thought they`d be interesting given the number of posts on this subject.
Give it a go, whats the worst that can happen, i`d thought about m/s manifolds in the past, not sure if theres a list of pro`s and cons anywhere.
Might be worth going and having a chat with a few manufacturers/tuners, there are quite a few around here. PTS in Worthing, SPC in Horsham, Simpson Race Exhausts (I forget where they are, scared me when i got a quote for an equal length 6-2-1) and BBW (although there VERY specialist) I think in the Carshalton area.
its going to be for my classic bmw 2002 that am doing a lot of work too . when i got this car it had a s14 m3 engine fitted and this is what the manifold will be for . i have posted a few pictures so you can see how little room there is with a n/a manifold . i should have more room with a turbo as i can keep it away from the steering box up front and high and i will only have one pipe then coming out of the turbo to fit around it . thats the plan anyway
Nice little project, is there enough space higher up to allow for a top mount turbo? It looks like there are a few obsticles lower down (steering rack), might be easier to run high then just have a single downpipe to worry about routing.
