I have been using 0.8 wire as said in the book (Haynes Roadster) to weld the chassis but now matter how much I tried to adjust the welder I didn't get very consistant welds it was either blowing holes or on a lower setting no penetration. This morning I have been trying out me new Parweld helmet and as an experiment I tried using some 0.6 wire, hey presto a nice smooth easy to control weld with good penatration. I'm assuming that because the 0.6 slightly lowers the current I have and in between setting that works. Welder is a Clarke 151en. So is it safe to use 0.6.
