0.6 and 0.8 wire suppliers

not sure if this is the right section, but I'm about to take delivery of my 215 portamig, i was going to buy some 5kg reels off steve but he appears to be still out of stock, can anyone recommend a decent supplier of decent wire (rather than quick to rust ebay specials)

Get in touch with your local welding equipment supplier, they should be able to sort you out

I buy lincoln 0.8 wire (5kg) from the local Boc place.....they usually have 0.6 on the shelf as well

How good is the 0.8 wire from Tool Station? At £20 per 5 kilo reel I would expect it to be up there with the best. Fortunately I have a TS outlet no more than a mile from my front door and I've used them fairly often for all sorts of tools and materials.

Not as far as I'm aware, these prices are for 0.8mm. Obviously the 0.6mm is going to be a lot dearer

last time i got a reel of 0.6 Lincoln from BOC depot it was comparable to Weldquip.

I pay £23 for my 15kg reels from HIS depending if your close to one, but buy either online or open an account with the store as they have a fair mark up in the actual store so ask for the best price which will be the online one. I've never had a problem with the wire doing anything from structural welding for building portal frame sheds right down to welding car panels.

Just out of interest how much was it

sorry - didnt see the post, cant remember exactly has some small change from £20 note

edit as i hadn't tidied up the accounts files since last week the file with BOC was sitting here next to me - it was £14.35 + vat £17.22 in total. Classed as "every day M/S Mig 5kg" its in a Lincoln box
