You get more length of .6 than .8 per kg. I only used .6 when I got my first welder till it ran out and have used .8 ever since. It depends on you and what best suits your welding style and machine.
Dont do a great deal of mig nowadays,
Prefer to keep 0.6 in my 180amp machine as it's more versatile but will spray on the highest one or two settings,
I'll only put the 0.8 in if i have a decent sized job with thicker steel to do like a few sets of railings i did recently.
Think I'll be sticking with the 0.6 then, It'll certainly be doing more thin work than thick stuff.
Maybe I'll get a small reel of 0.8 at some point an try it out.
