0.5mm thick factory paint, normal?

Started working on my doors today, stripped the locks and windows off them, then pressure washed them and started removing the old seam sealer.

Spotted a spot where the paint had failed with bulging from rust, so got out my bristle blaster to see what's going on under it. Turns out the paint on the door is 0.53mm thick all over. It's not poly filler, it's a thick layer of some white stuff.

The rest of the car has regular ~0.15mm thick paint. What's going on here? Could the factory be putting on thick filler coat on doors to get the profile right?

Looks like I need to strip the doors as the paint has failed in quite a few places.

White filler primer. White primer shows up almost invisible flaws. Brown can be got to look perfect till you paint gloss, then looks horrid. Grey primer is a medium which most car body men use. Fussy Cxxxs use white. I asked in a motor factors once for white primer for one of my projects (a black car) to be asked Why do you want that ? Nobody uses that stuff. I asked Do you sell it ? Yes he said we sell it. I finished off with There you go then.

I've stripped the door and its not the factory paint so mystery solved. The door shows some panel beating was done and I can see where some anchors had been welded so must have been fixed at some point.
