Hi, use like for like when patching also very few parts or any if i recall on cars are 3mm thick ( maybe the odd part of a leg). I've done some repair work to a sill and rear arch to a MX5 mark 1 and 2 and the sill steel is only ~1.2mm - 1.8mm thick. The rear arch is just 0.9mm. The thinnest...
Hi, just read through your post . I hope my wheel/anvil set does not have that kind of runout, I have no way to correct it and will have to return them.
Dcal, the wheeling machine has turned out well. Is it getting a tricked out paintjob or grey floorpaint like what i do (always have...
I have had halfords industrial boxes for 12 years and they have held up well. Also have a snapon 26" chest and cab (all bought used). The drawers on the snapon are sturdier than the halfords. Both of these are no thicker than 1.2mm sheet steel. Before getting any of these I considered making my...
I'm glad i clicked on this thread I almost never did, gas cylinder=stove (in my head) but this is another level of coolness. What is amazing is you went full on and built a bridge for it to sit on  most of the time either a wooden plaque or nothing.
There is so much great talent and...
Good job, im still clearing a space in the workshop to set up welding (safety and the like). Normally just use the wee brick garage at the side of the house but as the neighbours are home now I dont want to be the noisy bugger. Not everyone can appreciate the sweetness of an angle grinder...
Hi fatfranky, the top wheel is very nice and the lower ones are good too. Lowers are not highly polished and one of the lower wheels is a tiny bit rough but im being super nitpicky. Other than that they look up to the job. I guess through use dressing, polishing/cleaning is part of the course...
I got my wheel set from ebay. Adam someone from stoke on trent area. Ebay item number

They have flats on them as well and seem quite substantial. I was going to buy a cheap wheel and beef up the frame but i found these wheels for the same price and figured i would get them as i...
Dcal, I was about to start it today but noticed I'm almost out of argoshield. Decided to return the bottle and stop paying rent once it is empty. Popped out and picked up a hobbyweld bottle of '15' and argon for the tig. Took years to get through a 'y' bottle at home. Then swung by work to see...
I use a mig180 at work. It is the backup welder to the ancient (orange) sip ideal 180, which is really just too big to move around all the time. I like how the mig180 has been going and just purchased my own to replace a horrible sip migmate. It arrived next day (yesterday) and has been put to...
That looks pretty heavy duty. Im about to start making one but plan on it being a tad smaller. Looking at bench or maybe wall mounted. I have a length of 60mm box (5mm). More of a squared 'G' shape with some bracing. Around 500mm - 600mm throat depth. They are a few imports around the £200 mark...

£150 ish with vat, no stand but you can make one. and well within the price range you were looking at from machinemart. Be careful though.....they soften fairings in no time and you will be left puzzled as to where...
I forgot to mention that you will need to make sure the run is cured, as in you cant really push your fingernail into it. If the run is still soft then it is likely to tear and come away from the base coat, especially if the razor is a bit blunt. Trying to use a de-nib file on a softer run will...
I would avoid using washing up liquid as it contains lots of salts and other chemicals that can be left behind in the pours of the primer if not completely washed out. In winter the salts will absorb moisture and you will get micro blisters, I made that mistake once a long time ago, never again.
Hello, in the workshop we always get dust no matter how clean we have the place. It is usually spot repair work but some larger jobs come in and we could really do with a proper booth. Anyway, for dust we use a de-nib file. They cost about £6 from machine mart and come in coarse and fine. These...
Did you ever come up with anything regarding rubber mounts. I thought maybe some engine mounts like old fords or landrovers might work.

If it is near the size of mine then it will heat your workshop in no time, I was thinking of a small fan to circulate the heat and maybe heat the front of the workshop a bit faster.
hi, not done anything with the stove. Just getting the workshop finished then I will do the flue. I really will need to move the flue outlet as it sits at the wrong angle for the stoves position, I changed its location after I built it, typical.
Here's my wiring. some lights and sockets. No 16A or 32A sockets as im not sure I need them just now but as I am still doing it I might add a couple anyway.
