I currently have a PortsMig 185 which has been fantastic. I just don’t have space for a big transformer welder and full bottle anymore. I don’t do anywhere near the amount of welding I used to but I still need a Mig.
Can anybody recommend a small 180 amp minimum Inverter mig with a euro torch...
I've currently got a PortaMig and its great but it's just too big for the space I have to work in. Whats the smallest 180A MIG out there fore <£500 ?, must be Eurotorch
i don’t know why but i seem to routinely ruin threaded parts, like tacking captive nuts and more recently an alloy filler neck which after welding galled and stripped its thread. Threads seems to go tight and need chasing. Has anyone got any tips to preserve threads when welding ?
I’ve adapted a CK17 onto mine and I’m getting gas contamination/ porus weld. I’ve got the bayonet on the back, doesn’t seem to leak, the front is an M10 conical hose barb with a jubilee clip into a dinze connection and 3/8 CK hose. All of it seems to be tight and leak free, but it’s unusable on...
use a small piece of windscreen washer tube slipped over the barb and the bigger hose on top and get a proper jubillee clip. You'll get both from a motor spares shop for pence.
It's likely to be that Jasic licensed the Sherman to be built for the central European market and it's dealers are limited to only sell in the territories they're authorised to, not uncommon but not exactly ethical. The issue here is that a manufacturer is making a product under another brand...
try this manual, i’d stay off pulse for the moment, try 30% AC balance, 85 AC Frequency

If you want to make a technically perfect stainless exhaust, you need to purge and being honest your skill level will be a greater factor in it's strength and integrity than whether you purge it or not. 99% of all stainless production exhausts are MIG welded without purging (some with ER70S...
thanks all, just for context, it's sheet 1.2-2mm outside corner joints, range of different things but mostly tanks of some sort, fuel, header, overflow, often odd shapes and when I work in steel I (lazily) rough cut a piece and grind the shape to size with flap wheel or drums. I see lot of...
Are there cutting and flap discs available which won't contaminate aluminium ahead of welding, failing that whats the best way of prepping ally where is been cut or ground ?
haven't done a huge amount of aluminium so I'm used to welding slower on steel in DC. I can vary my travel speed but bead width is suffering and I just find a pedal easier.
Boughtt a 206P from Weldes but they don't have stock of the pedal. Is there another pedal I use with this machine as I'm struggling with AC on aluminium without it
