The best way to do it would be to Z cut the chassis rather than a straight vertical cut as it gives you a stronger join, get a local fab shop to bend up some matching channel (I had some made up in 3mm plate for a few beer tokens by a local fabricators) Butt weld it in and then box the open side...
Good luck with the Freelander, we finally got rid of the wifes one today.......hooray.....damn thing spent more time broken in four years than it did working properly, had a new engine at 75K miles due to knackered bores, three lots of clutch hydraulics, turbo, intercooler pipes (x3) alternator...
My only venture onto two wheels was an aged Honda C70, from memory late 70's, in about 1986, got me to and from work on a cupful of petrol, cost sod all to insure and tax and went well enough to embarress a couple of young lads every morning on their little 50cc pepsi logo'd imitation racing...

Todays creosote substitute isn't a patch on the old proper creosote. I use it on the old weathered barn doors at my place over in France and it only lasts half a season before it needs doing again. It seems much less oily than the old stuff although they have got the smell right. I did...
Could be down to a blocked dirty air filter if that hasn't been changed, knackered turbo, boost leak somewhere or a problem with the injector pump. I'd say go and sign up at the Pajero Owners club as theres lots of very knowledgeable people on their www.pocuk.co.uk
I have to say dropping a lit fag down between your legs onto the seat in the fast lane of the M25 whilst doing "P" miles an hour in a tranny van (I could get the needle around to the P at the bottom of the speedo, had to be about a ton) back when I was a rep flogging office furniture probably...
I have to say all the new regs are going to annoy the pants off me when we move house, in this one I totally rewired the kitchen, have moved/installed extra sockets/lights wired the garage up from scratch etc etc plus all the usual DIY, installed two bathrooms, now I have to pay someone to do...
I have a shop bought steel box type hitch lock and carry a hefty motorcycle chain and padlock to chain my Ifor williams to the towbar. Its not infallible if someone really wants it but it deters the casual thief.
You can be done under existing driving legislation if it contributes to an accident. Perhaps they should ban complicated stereos and sat nav, lets face it how often do you see some tit of a sales rep entering a postcode in their tomtom whilst driving?
Borrocks, that puts paid to my plans to build a hot rod from scratch.......All this will mean is the growing trade in dodgy log books and VIN numbers will increase and unsafe and potentially unlicensed vehicles will end up on the road.
Seems like its time to dig out my mao suit and the...
Just build a perimter wall into the slope, concrete beam and block floor and away you go, pop in a manhole and you could even use the space at the downhill end for storage!
I'm prepared to be a decent hot rod/speed shop will have em. Try someone like http://www.duksville.co.uk/ give em a ring and see what they can sorce for you.Plenty of places in the USA sell em like this http://www.bungking.com/products.html
Its a shame you're so far away as I have a bloody great big stainless roll bar I took of my chevy that is surplus to requirements. I'm sure it could be cut and shut to fit most things. I took it off as it was the wrong shape and didn't match the curves of the cab and it stuck up about six...
