I have just stretched it and it looks a lot better. I have had to cable tie one of the cables that came from the 3 big capacitors to the chassis just in case it moved too close. I presume that coil will get hot? There is damage on the lance connection to the machine. There has been arcing on the...
Is there anything I could put on the threads to help prevent arcing? A bit wary of putting compounds on conductive surfaces, mainly from the good old oxy acetylene days. as oil and compressed gas go well together (boom)
Maybe copper grease?
But yes, I will try and gently stretch the coil, worth...
The coil on your image is much more spread out? I wonder if over time mine has lost it's temper and been compressed to what it is now causing it to arc? Either that or it has a non conductive coating which has started to fail. But arcing could be seen in the mid section of the coil under load...
Yes, I can imagine. Did the picture of mine come through? Can't see it on here although it didn't say it had failed to load?
I have been to the place I bought the machine from this afternoon, they are going to try and get a replacement from Murex for me. I also noticed there is a little bit of...
Yes, no problem..... well other than this site doesn't like the size of the jpg. Will have a go at resizing it and send it shortly. I have a 2min vid of it in action if needed too?
It does look like a resistor, reminds me of the old RC car throttle variable resistors.
Ok thanks, I have taken the two small suppression capacitors out of circuit and it still trips. On testing them, one has a lower capacitance - 0.1micro farads and the other is 0.067. I have ordered some new ones as one is a little low.
Had a play yesterday, I noticed the coiled wire above the...
Hi Brightspark
Thanks, I will ask my electrician to test it. He did mention looking at it for me but he has not been able to get here this week so far. It is an intermittent fault, happens from cold as well as after prolonged use which made him think it may be something mechanical rather than...
I think there are three caps on this machine. Quite big ones in a frame. They look ok, i.e. not bulging. If no luck with the new tips, I will take them out and test them. I have a Peak Atlas ESR tester so I will check them to see if they're near as rated. Thanks
Hi MoreWellie
Thanks for your reply.
The machine has worked ok for a few years, only tripping the breaker if used on the maximum setting. My electrician suspected the cable between the house and workshop wasn't up to the load. We replaced it with a 16mm cable, new consumer unit and 32amp 3pin...
Hi Folks,
I have a Murex tradesmig 201 about 10years old and light use. It has started tripping the mains supply RCB on the fuse board. I have spoken to an engineer and he suggested the fan being faulty on the machine. Just changed that and still have the fault. It is usually on strike up but...
