Gonna weigh-in on account of my spray painting, signmaking background. Powdercoat is fine for something that isn't subjected to heat, abrasion (like stone chips), water, salt spray or anything else. Problem is that, in the paint spectrum, it's the least flexible thing you can use. Any high...
Been years since I was a signwriter, (when machines first entered the business) but recently I looked at what was available and there seemed to be alot of new players in the plotter market. Just like welders, there's a lot of made-in-China rebadging going on. The 2 brands which have the most...
Are they really made in Denmark? They seem to have a good marketing and product info. and a decent story behind them. I wonder what happens on the ground when people buy and use their gear...?
That's a coincidence Brad, I was just about to ask you what you thought of Migatronic TIGs. My second-hand Lorch purchase fell through. So I'm looking at options.
Like the title says. I'm also on the lookout for a cheap AC-DC machine. Parweld or Jasic? Parweld or Jasic? Actual machine vs machine, we'll leave warranties out of it.
Thanks for all your input guys. Excited to get my MicorTIG now. I've made an offer for a newish machine still with 2 years warranty and registered with Lorch. Interesting to hear that about 8M torches. I thought it might be like trying to deal with a bloody python while trying to work in my...
Thank Guys. I have wondered about opting for the MiorTIG BasicPlus with 1700 PowerMaster torch. I was going to get the ControlPro with i-Torch setup - I want to have the up-down current function, but don't really need to switch saved jobs on the fly.
Have you got the Powermaster torch? What size? I've got a niggling feeling that I'm going to want something smaller, like a 9. For me, going TIG is enabling me to do finer, neater stuff. And I suppose I can use it for stick when I'm doing basic fabrication of 3mm mild steel box section. I'm...
It'd be interesting to know if anyone's had a side-by-side comparison between the brands. Lorch seems to have after sales running pretty well. I guess I haven't seen anyone step forward for EWM so far. Apart from saying they are good welders - but then they are both good welders. Just wondered...
Who has experience of both? Which has superior arc quality?
So far, I've gathered that the EWM is a bit more intuitive to use, but the Lorch has incredibly smooth arc.
I believe the Lorch also has a function where you tell it what your power source is and it limits itself automatically, for...
Somebody else here mentioned PU adhesive. I would agree that's even better. The stuff they use to bond spot welded joints in the auto industry. Goes under names like Tiger grip - PU basically.
I completely misread your question like a dufus. My gas valve is 24V as well. If I remember, (it was quite a few years ago) I used the same feed as motor and switched power to it using a relay.
Hi - I think I used a 24volt DC transformer. That's what seems to get fed to the motor. Also disconnected the potentiometer from the board by removing a couple of resistors. So the new pot is in the same place it's just not wired through the board.
Weirdly, I found a water-based cork flooring adhesive that works really well. I find the solvent based ones (ie. impact adhesives) once dry, are easy to remove. They just don't have the holding power. Tried lots of brands. Never found a spray-on that works except for temporary, so i avoid them...
Here's mine in the pic. I also put in gas solenoid, dins earth connection, a separate power supply and motor speed control for the wire feed, so now the wire speed is unaffected by the increase in voltage. And I also put in a different potentiometer for the wire speed and tuned it with a couple...
Yes, I'm looking at a second-hand one with very little use. Comes with two 8m power torches (bit too long for me). sizes 26 and 9. I can't see myself doing Aluminium and would rather move on to something of quality.
