Yes Al, correct, pink packaging on those rods. Your brain is full of electrode info, in only mastermind would let you select it as your specialist subject...........
Anything 6mm or more I get in there a bit at least mainly for piece of mind, I'm probably what's termed an over welder, that is to say most professionals would baulk at my multipass affair as they'd have done one. But 1 I'm indulging myself 2 I like to cap it with a sexy looking weld to cover up...
Does nobody gouge out like the yanks do to get more penetration! Watched icweld on youtube the other day he is rather good with his torch for chunky plate I would think a necessity. So Bob has a point there relying on a tiny bit of grip/penetration.
10mm 3.2mm rod no drama, I did 12mm plate with 6013 for a mates pizza oven lol 2 weeks ago his pizza oven is over 650deg c on full tilt so his pizzas getting uneven cooking. I bevelled the 2 plates little gap wanged the 3.2mm in at about 130amps if memory serves then just laid subsequent beads...
That Al, is music to my ears I will now 7018 everything on the planet ! I currently have 125kg approx of mixed rods, I need to stop working in 2 different workshops as everything is doubled up !
Yeah vacpacs are getting smaller nowadays, unfortunately paupers like me get em cheap in 5kg sealed packs. I dont open them as I very rarely will use a load in one hit. Lol Bought 18kg for 27.50 delivered from Ebay arrived today, guy isnt listing them as 7018 as a weird boiler rod but I spotted...
I run as hot as possible for the given situation/thickness. But yep everyday a school day, as I didn't know running a smaller diameter rods penetration on a root was greater than using a bigger rod, never read/heard it before, but I'm not schooled in the ways of the weld. Brad clearly is, some...
Am I missing something here ? The 6013's were run on dc negative? Equals less penetration yet the 7016 run on DC positive? Why? I don't think I've ever run a 6013 dcen. In fact no I haven't, I've also noted that different manufacturers 6013's penetration differs greatly, as I've mentioned before...
I got a brand new in the bosch boxed die grinder for free, very nice. I purchased a Fein sander, never again will Fein darken my door again, sander yes, clearly isn't a grinder but utter tat. Hikoki grinder, pants. Makita grinder not bad, Bosch quite nice, oddly cheapo Einhell 18v brushless...
I have a long run of swa sat there uncoiled hanging on my shed, all the way to the back of my garage, been there ages ! Need to connect it someday........lol
Sounds like me, got my garage with one arc, one mig, then on a flex connected to my workshop I built at the bottom of my garden, 70ft away, connected to my garage supply all on a 13amp plug. Invertor using 3.2mm rods or below is fine won't make any difference as should have power factor...
I'm surprised, they were hard work then, very in fact, I've just ran about 20 x 2.5mm rods interspersed with stuffing my tea down neck to make a small grille bbq affair for my dad. Bit rough admittedly, but it's a bbq, big pipe cut n shut, but I was welding at about 45deg and round the half...
Yes it was a bit vague Hugh had a point, less bodies at RS basically so they're clueless finding anything, phone up for the most basic things they can't help. Problem with most places unfortunately. Computer says no.....phone down.
I'd stick weld it, so am about as much use as chocolate fire guard! They look too crowned so my guess would be hotter, but I'm pants at mig if it isn't flat as a pancake. Of course I always blame my cheapo machine, but reality is if it was a Kemmpi it'd probably be identical. Stick supposed to...
True enough, my mate is a pipe fitter for Babcocks in Hull and know a guy who fabs in Birmingham too, they get issued with a huge variation of rod manufacturers. One would assume, especially in the current climate, that the £ rules! That said I'm sure a pro welder could outweld me with a super6...
Ok46.00 are the kiddies although the ok46.30 are good too for sure, problem with them is once you use them anything else doesn't cut it. I've used 5kg of those old school red Murex jobs too that everyone loves. Don't know if it's been said already but Hyundai rods make using a coat hanger...
Specialist wiring accessories. Google, it's called a search engine I believe. You just put in 'swa' and 'crimp' and voila. I work for an Electrical Wholesaler. They supply a lotta companies.
One great thing about 7018's is I've NEVER come across a machine that doesn't run them, really don't need high ocv or dig, smooth even cheap ones! 6010 on the other hand ! 6011 i thought easier to cook oddly. Reason Parweld ditched their cellulosic running machine of old i wonder and now all...
7018's are low penetration just like 6013's and I do use em post opening, but like i said you may aswell use 6013's at this point as if 70k psi break can't drop to 60k, you shouldn't be using them. Tell you what though, I found 40 loose Esab46.00 at the back of my workshop a few months back...
