ah, I thought this was only a feature of more expensive welders?? - and I've never noticed it being like this before either.... mine is an old 150TE if that makes any odds
cheers
Jason
edit: Well, I had a problem the other day where the wire went constantly flat out. So I took apart the...
Hi,
Recently reinstated my welder after about a year and bit the bullet and got a big bottle of argoshield and some new wire + wire liner etc. However (and I am by no means very experienced) I was unable to get the thing setup happily and sounding right. It was almost there but not quite...
Cool, don't worry, you don't need a reason to fit an awesome cage like that one!! (wish I had the pennies!!)
I would highly recommend looking into strengthening that boot seam, as it is notorious for splitting, and whilst it isn't structural it is much easier to do before the cage is welded...
looking really nice! - if you haven't already (I skimmed through a few pics) then I highly recommend properly seaming the boot to "arch" seam... as this failed spectacularly on mine during a recent road rally. The fabrication looks far better than my meager efforts could produce, and that cage...
cool, may give them a try then... like I said, just looking for a cheap way of getting a decent amount of gas as boc contracts etc are out of my price range really due to the very low usage.
I expect they're the same then basically, cool, thanks! - I'm looking for the cheapest as I'm a lowly student and won't be doing much welding but want to practice lots. (into road rallying etc. so am constantly fixing bits on the car!)
sorry, is that the prices for MigTigArc in portsmouth or south coast... depending on the answer, what are the prices for the other one? lol
Thanks
Jason
Hi,
Its a sunday and I can't be bothered to wait until tomorrow to find out. I noticed that this place offer a "rent free" service whereby you pay 3yr bottle rights, a deposit and then refill for £22.50.
I was wondering if anyone knew how much the deposit and "3yr bottle rights" were...
if you're new to it then I would definitely do it from above!!!!
I'm very new to welding, and tbh threw myself in at the deep end with corrective welding and finishing on a competition pug 106. I've gotten pretty good at welding from above on stuff like cage plates and seat rails etc but...
I really want to switch to a refillable canister (can't due to space in student residence :(), but in defence of the little 110L cylinders, I managed to weld a load of roll cage plates an exhaust join and some practising as well as losing some to a duff regulator... I couldn't believe how long...
Hi,
I'll mainly be doing some suspension strengthening and fabrication work, but the welder I'm looking at has a min rating of 40A, if I were to want to stitch any bodywork would it destroy it?
Thanks
Jason
I'm not a fan of garage welding either, I got charged ~£100 for a tiny weld on the sill of my saab (hadn't even noticed it) and I asked them not to chassis black it as I could do that and wanted to see the job they'd done. Guess what, I went to pick the car up and it was all nicely covered over...
mw150AT is a 30-150A welder and I'd be buying it at a "trade" price i.e. through an engineering company who get discount with draper, final cost would be something like £170 to my door
Hi,
Anybody have any experience of these, or any small draper migs?
I'm pretty tempted as I can get one with 40% discount and then the vat knocked off of that too.
I'll be doing some car suspension strengthening and fabrication (strut braces and the like).
Thanks
Jason
don't worry, I wasn't going to buy one new. The oppurtunity has now passed anyway so all is good and I don't have a rubbish mig. :)
Thanks for your input
Jason
