Hello Davey.
WhatsApp by private message ...
I entered the belgian circuit and hillclimbing championships 40 years ago ...
Missing the sound of BOTT (Battle Of The Twins).
Hello !
No, I didn't turn it, it was just a little dark. Surface was good, so the brushes.
Using ultra fine sandpaper got it back to copper colour.
So no need to cut the insulation.
For wires damaged fabric insulation, I used heat-shrinkable sleeves.
Pictures welcome !!!
In my case the rocker device would be the "topping on the cake" or "icing on the cake" if I remember correctly !
In french we say the "cherry on the cake".
Update !
In the coming days I should receive 3 wheels.
Two 5" x 7/8" x 7/8" offset units for the valve itself, one GP ref 010-0509-01 for standard valves and one ref 010-0507-07 for stellite ones.
These 2 wheels are originally sold for Kwikway VS and EVS valve grinder, and ordered at Irontite...
Hi Peter.
Between A and F on my RCT-F (TR-52 board):
Footpedal unpressed I have a high resistance, like 40-60 kOhms.
Then it drastically drops at the beginning, but alone it's not easy to measure.
Fully pressed, 1.7 to 1.9 kOhms.
Poti is 2.2 kOhms.
Here the inside (Hi-res photos on request):
Hello @Stueeee !!
Wow, what a nice result !!!
Exact same model as mine (I think the later shows a 6mm-11/16" on the plate, sometimes with FM type instead of FE).
What's your collet maker ?
Mine is still the original, but going to ER20 or ER25 homemade shaft is in my mind for mid-term.
Also...
Hello Peter.
If you can't sort this question out, I could check it here on mine.
Or you can come home (near Brussels).
Mostly french and english speaking, my flemish is old and rusty from school time !!
Zoom on a good resolution photo shows the sliding principle !
Still to figure out ... the tank outlet connection type and location to go to the pump.
Anyone ?
My idea is the add a ball valve at the outlet, then a filter, before entering the grinder base.
Easy to clean/replace without draining...
Well, I hesitate in replicating them in steel or aluminium.
I can TIG weld both, good occasion for training !!!
Aluminium is easier to bend and shape.
I like to replicate with similar layout and "spirit".
Casting ... no, never tried and not equipped for.
I mostly wonder how is it connected...
I have a request to other FE owners, having the original grinding oil tank as on the below pictures (taken from the Net).
How is it attached ?
It seems to me that the top cover is fixed to the machine by 2 screws (I have the screws but nothing else).
Then the tank itself would slide into cover...
Hello guys.
A few updates ...
I recently ordered new wheels in the US thru my family.
They could be found in Europe but it's cheaper directly.
I'll have to machine an adapter because wheel center is bigger (originally for a Kwik Way valve grinder).
One for General Purpose, the other one for...
Today, rebuilt of the valve motor.
It seems that it has been overhauled in the past.
The past being 50 years approx, nothing unusual.
except that the bronze bushings were probably replaced ... without the holes for the oil !!!
Anyway, drilling new holes is a minor upgrade.
Worst item is the...
This evening, removal of the bearing from the valve motor.
A little heat to remove the pulley.
On the pulley side, the bearing is a Hoffmann N2617 (see below), size is 10x30x12.7 mm.
On the collector side, there is a bronze bushing.
Bushing and axle were measured and they are very good and well...
The pictures ...
The tachometer label is still on the pulley.
No need to remove the 4 screws to open the motor.
Put a mark on the brushes position and direction when removing them, prior opening the motor.
The "felt" and the oil hole above, coming from the oil feed nipple
No problemo ...
