Hi Kai!
The welder is very nice. Haven't had too much arc time yet as it has been a very busy period at school (teaching is my day job), but I have been able to play with it and like it a lot!
@paulo1974: I don't weld alu, so no heat treatment for me.
Thanks, @Richard. ! I'll give it a try. Spent today on welding the tubes together. Thought it might be better to weld the frame first and then weld it to the plate.
They should now. Getting to grips with how to use media on this forum. ;) I put them in an album and have the album set to Public, hope that's the right setting..
Youŕe completely right, of course, @Wonderweaver, but being a complete newbie I'm really wondering what would be the best way to manipulate the arc here. I am basically moving it between tube and plate to heat both evenly, but it looks as if the tube picks up all the heat. When I join the tubes...
I'm trying to build a welding table/worktop to practice and I'm using square 3mm tubes and 3mm plate. The tubes have rounded corners and for some reason it's very difficult for me to even tack them to the plate.
I just don't seem to be able to get a puddle on both tube and plate at the same...
They've just released new models which do have a proper pulse option and can be used with a foot pedal. The analog version even comes with a foot pedal.
And it arrived today! Still need to fit a plug as it came without one connected. UK import, so understandable and the shop provided one. All the other stuff was there, so when my son's at pre-school on Wednesday morning....
Well, had a good think about budget/warranty/local support etc and have decided to go for the Jasic TIG200P-PFC DC machine. :-) There is just one more brief question: It comes with a WP17 torch and I was wondering where to position this in relation to the WP9 torch I used at my course and the...
I came across that site when I was searching for reviews on Stahlwerk and it just added to my confusion about Stahlwerk and Vector. It seems as if they were the same company, but at the moment there are two different webshops and I came across a thread on a German forum where there was even a...
Those are the machines from Vector Welding, which is not the same company as the present Stahlwerk (they used to sell under that name, though).
They do offer machines with a 5-year warranty at a very interesting price, though. A 200A DC pulse with a foot pedal included sells for 389€ (the...
I have seen Mastertig 1500 machines on our local version of Ebay, but they're still going for more than I would have to pay for a Jasic and then (as a complete newbie) I do find a 5-year warranty. The cheaper used machines are all transformers and need 380v, unfortunately. A Jasic would be 399...
Well, still doing research and trying to make up my mind as the EWM did not really go down well in terms of price. Making frames is purely a hobby and it's hard to justify spending 900 euros on something I'm just starting out on. I am praticising using a cheap machine that's on loan to me from...
