So long as you have your meter set to Voltage, it doesn't complete the circuit and wont arc. It'll blow the fuse in your meter before it arcs if you've got it set to current or resistance, unless you've got a hell of a meter.
Scraggy jeans aside, you measure from this copper bit inside the shroud. The other end of the meter goes to the clamp.
Make sure it's clean and not covered in soot like mine.
If the 151en is built anything like the Pro90 (which looks exactly the same but smaller), it's very well made - out of cheap parts. All of the electrics look tidy, powder coating is pretty durable, casing is heavy gauge steel, torch feels 'reasonable', switches are substantial, etc.
My only...
I've got a whole 4 panel patches under my belt so I'm hardly an expert but what I found was that consistency is absolutely important. You wont know when a weld is about to blow through but it will largely behave the same each time - unless the whole panel is hot.
I started out with some small...
I still have to laugh: Comes with CK torch assembly, also comes with garbage visor and hammer/brush. Is it some obligatory EU directive that welders, no matter how expensive, must come with a crap handheld visor?
I'd hazard a guess that the wire would break and become trapped as a strand between the ring and piston wall, leading to a horrible lack of compression and a scored piston wall. Eventually it would break off and half would fall into the sump and the other half would probably get jammed in the...
Another vote for the Clarke one at Machine Mart
Mine's an 8" but it's done a solid job so far.

Is the flange for clamping the seal in place like below, rather than flinging?
This particular one is on page 287 of this catalog. They're a well enough known company that any reasonable supplier could find an equivalent. Have whoever supplies it swap the o-ring for a spring and you've...
I didn't say recycle, I said repurpose. There's examples already, GM use batteries from old Chevy Volts for their data center backup power, or the 3MW uninterruptible back-up power supply (Nissan) batteries in the Ajax stadium in Amsterdam. Nissan are also selling old EV batteries packaged up as...
The idea is they go into battery storage farms - presumably the cells get taken out, tested and re-allocated to new cars or storage, depending on their state. There's enough evidence of electric cars lasting well over a few hundred thousand miles as well - as taxis - not exactly an easy life.
I...
I got a Pro90 for my car, it's currently a better tool than I am a welder. It really can't hack much more than sheet work though - It is however 'light' enough to carry.
The 151en will pull no more current than the Pro90 at bodywork levels of power, you can get away with a 13a fuse and plug. It...
I get to the end of posts and I've totally forgotten what I'd written at the start sometimes.
I have at my disposal for squashing: a foot, small Record No 2, a hammer, a car.
Then I'll have given away the good toolbox and be stuck with my own wonky attempt.
Thanks for the advice. I'll not...
My old man made this toolbox when he was an apprentice. He gave it to me when I went to college. I made one while I was there with the intention of giving him that one - except it was awful in comparison so I didn't. I then forgot all about the idea. His birthday is coming up early next year and...
Are you able to dump some photos of the wiring inside.
I'm fully expecting all of the wires to be the same colour - just to be helpful - but someone might take a punt based on that.
I swapped to 15% (I think it was) and the crackle certainly became less pronounced. I think some of what you hear with 100% CO2 is the pops from the spatter blowing off the weld pool.
