Just to clarify are you saying that something like a Clarke 135TE would be no good for car work?
I’m looking to buy my first one as a hobby and budget is limited to around the £300 mark.

I go to Liverpool City college. They start in September and teach welding basics. You can do the 10 week course or the 36 week course.
