Raptor or any other version of this isnt necessarily the grippiest in the world. It might be worth you painting the footwell with 3M 7888 grip paint. Not cheap but we use it on helicopters and it's pretty good stuff.

What about a MagCode connector? Used on commercially and emergency vehicles for a while now. Round plate sits on a fairing, bumper or fabricated bracket. The power lead is magnetic and attached to the plate on the vehicle. Simple pull and the connector comes off meaning no risk if you ride away...
Thanks HPS, the plan is a heavy cube with radiused edges, media blasted to give it a lightly matte finish. By the time it’s been machined into a box, you’re right, it might be easier to laser cut some 15-20mm plates, weld it all up, then machine the edges of the empty box. I just like the idea...

Does anyone know where I might source a block of 316...
Doesn’t help you but I might as well say it, but if a rookie error selling what you had before you’d seen its replacement. I know in many instances people don’t have the disposable cash lying round to buy new and be able to wait until old one is sold, but if you rely on it for a living it’s...
Best bet I’d say is PV panels and a battery bank. You could supplement that with the generator for periods of high use or low light, but both these options are expensive. Fuel prices aren’t dropping any, so a generator will always be dear. The only time I considered a generator was when I wanted...
Where are you based? I use a really good sewing machine engineer in the north west. I have the utmost respect for anyone who can repair/service a sewing machine having seen just how many working parts can be made to work in symphony in such a small contraption…. And I work with helicopters!
Had Moore & Wright digital caliper and digital angle gauge block. Both have failed. Mitutoyo all the way these days. I have a few Quantumikes and a 150mm caliper. All bought from H Roberts during various sales. The mitu caliper is often copied by the Chinese as others have said, so buy from a...
