Hi Dave,
Yes, the brass fitting on the bottle does have a female connection so your adapter should fit, assumming the thread sizes are an industry standard
I obtained a quote from both BOC and AP last month. Taking a single large (W) size bottle for a year the overall cost, including VAT, for both was:
BOC £147.18 (£2.83/week)
AP £129.92 (£2.50/week)
The refill charges were:
BOC £35.71
AP £14
Obviously, if you had more than...
I had considered the smaller sized bottles but the economics of doing so are hard to justify, unless you just cannot deal with the physical size of the larger, 'W', bottle.
AP prices, from Richard Glasson (Mobex: 07834 259794, Email: glassor@airproducts.com), are:

Malcolm,
I've just ordered two cans from Matt, at the 20% discount rate of £10 each, so will be interested in the results of your test.
Postage was £4.25, plus an agreed 50p charge for using paypay rather than a cheque.
Here are a couple of pics that may give you a few more ideas ;)
Personally I feel safer putting myself under something a bit more substantial, so I bought a scissor lift (at a discount) as in the last photo.
More money but what cost do you put on your life
Correct me if I am wrong, but your cost is based on one cylinder per year. The last time I worked out the BOC costs it came to well over £140 per year, based on one large cylinder.
The price difference was mainly in the refill cost so the more cylinders, or refills, you have the greater the...
I will always compare prices, so as soon as they are not the cheapest I'll go elsewhere. Rental is charged on a daily rate so there is no long term commitment. For now they are very competitive and that's good enough for me ;)
One would expect that so are all the others. They all seemed to charge around the same if you did not question the price. I strongly doubt that the cost of producing the gas is much more for one company than another.
At the end of the day they are now giving us a good price, so why 'cut off...
Yes, the price given is the rate for Forum Members. Some people have been quoted over £30 for the largest bottle, so £14 is a good discount. If you want smaller bottle sizes you will need to give Richard a call, but he should be able to save you money.
The prices he quoted me (all plus Vat)...
The guy I got mine from says he can do £14 a refill and can arrange this price for forum members. Just mention you are from the DIY welding forum. He arranges the price with you and then you collect from your local supplier. His details are:

You need two people to lift it, not solely because of the weight but also because there is nothing to grab hold of.
10.22 m3 at around 10 litres per minute - anyone know the conversion of m3 into litres?
Picked up my X47s size (large) bottle of Coogar 5 yesterday. It's about 1.5m high and weighs around 80kg but fitted easily in the back of my Toyota Surf.
£14 a Refill + Vat - seems reasonably to me ;)
For those working on car/motorcycle engines this may be of some interest, but please make your own judgement on suitability.
I asked Matt this question:
Could this be sprayed inside the cylinder bores of an engine, that was not going to be run for some time, so as to lubricate the...
Malcolm,
Sorry, I did'nt mean to mis-quote you . I just got the impression you thought it was better than WD40.
I also assumed, maybe wrongly, that Matt would be the UK distributor so all orders (retail and trade) would have to go through him
weldequip (Steve),
Malcolm seems to think it's the business and I'm certainly interested.
Let us know if you are going to do this and within what time scale. Rather order from you and keep it in the family, so to speak.
Can you let me know what postage costs you would charge for (say)...
As Malcolm has said "Gibbs Brand is finally available in the UK. It's like WD40 but doesn't attract dirt and it's over-paintable."
The guy distributing it is Matt Felce Gibbs Brand UK http://mattfelce.com/.
I asked Matt for a quote for 2 cans of this stuff and here is his reply:
"At...
