The insert and tap is m12 x 1 the drill size for which is 11mm. Sods law says I couldn't find an 11mm bit when I needed one but so used a 27/64" (10.7mm) drill instead it was a bit tight tapping the thread but the aluminium was so soft it went ok. Some of the more expensive regulator kits come...
I've used PB right from the early days and certainly used to be the most reliable free image hosting platform over the last 15 years or so. In all those years this is the first (and of course last) issue I've had with them.
The recent blocking of 3rd party hosting is completely out of the blue...
The thread repair kit turned out to be a complete success. I'll get a photo of the repair on the weekend but just to prove that the £7 kits work....
Don't think it was ever designed to move a 15 stone lump (not me by the way) but did surprisingly well.
Decided this evening to get the head off. Watched a few youtube videos of the Lifan pit bike engines (which this appears to be or at least is a cheaper copy of) 6 nuts and 8 bolts in all so about as easy as it gets.
It'll definitely make tapping the new thread and fitting the insert easier...
It's a 49cc 4 stroke cheapanese engine. Not made my mind up about taking the head off.... Certainly would be best practice but there just enough room to do it in situ and as I'll likely get little more than a thank you for doing it I really don't want to spend much time on it tbh and if I can...
So I've read a few times now guessing that must be for small 4 stroke road bikes? here's the odd thing I've ridden 2 stroke off road bikes from PW50 to CR80, RM100, CR250 & SX250 and a few others in between over the last 25 years or so and played with countless small 2 stroke and 4 stroke...
Has anyone had any luck with the very cheap nasty spark plug repair kits like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VORLUX-SPARK-PLUG-THREAD-REPAIR-KIT-M10-X-1-00-B5837-/142370919242?epid=1023642910&hash=item2125f7d34a:g:AScAAOSws4JW8RgS
I've been asked by a friend if I can sort out an off road go...
Shutz gun with a lance and nozzle worked brilliantly for me with Dinitrol ML :dontknow:.
I even lengthened the length of pipe to 4' or so with beer line so I could reach further along the cavities.
Actually I did make a start - I skimmed down some larger bright bar down to the right dimensions using the 4 jaw chuck on the lathe. Even got the recesses cut out and filed to size on one piece ready to be drilled and tapped:
I had to stop at this point to hunt down some suitable threaded bar...
At quick glance on my phone yes it looks like they would work. I'm not really sure how I missed them earlier :dontknow: I'll check them on a bigger screen later to be sure though.
Thank you for the link.
