There are loads of people selling them, even wago have started selling them.
In-sure do them CK, Quickwire, Knipex, Jokari, there are even non branded ones about.
They are dear but so are a lot of good tools!
I have no complaints with them at all!!
They are good strippers, and excellent for consistent length of strip which is great for fiddly recessed lighting connections.
And for building panels up as they cut as well!
The newer ones are not so easy to gauge consistent length as the cable passes through the handle so hidden by the...
It could have been an excellent solution if it had been executed sensibly! Now it is just a money making scam. Shame much could be said for a lot of professional bodies, gas safe?!
They are an excellent tool, I didn't pay that much for them, I got them from the ELEX show at Coventry, think they were around £39 ish.
I tried them out and was converted!
I have a set of these too...
I remember back as an apprentice on the turning section a fellow apprentice forgot to remove the key before starting the lathe.
It went with two big bangs, left a dent in the back guard and exited through the cement board roof. Left a hole the size of a basketball in the sheet, never did hear of...
I haven't tried it yet as I still have about 150m of earth sleeve in stock.
I will definitely try it though, once I've depleted the sleeve!
What?! efix did a gaztube on it and it didn't look that bad at all, I'm quite looking forward to it, no more sleeve falling off!
I already use mechanical...
2 safest ways I think would be crimp and heat shrink or if accessible a 100a service block (henley) and clearly labled as a bonding connection.
Or the ambiguous propriety connector!
Same issues in the electrical industry, the bad ones still trade, registration to do Domestic work doesn't cut it there are plenty of people who do electrical work for domestic customers and don't test or register it, well apart from the bang test!
From what I can remember the hole is to be no bigger than 0.25 of the total joist depth,
So depends on how big your joists are!
And it is similar with the hole spacing I think it's between 0.25 and 0.4 of the total joist length. But don't quote me on that, as I say not got the regs to hand!
As long as you install them through holes in the center of any joists and drill the joists in the correct spot then yes under the floor will be fine! I can't remember the exact places in the joist span that you are permitted to drill as I don't do much domestic work and don't have the regs to...
I would change both units to modern ones Hager or similar.
Failing that it's what looks like 5 circuits that need Rcd protection? Fit a consumer unit next to each board to house the Rcd's and alter the circuit to go through the Rcd, existing MCB is already providing overload and short circuit...
Got to agree with @MetalMonkey Knipex all the way. They last well and are comfortable!
I used to like CK but the later version with the screw cutting holes and striping notches just don't last at all the blades seem to dull really quickly.
Had some NWS ones and they were better than the CK but...
Sorry @Barking Mat we have had issues with some traveling folk, I agree that not all are the same and it was unfair to paint them all in the same tarnished colour!
I do know some that are very nice people not far from me who have helped myself and several friends in the past.
It's not the taking the pith that's so much of the problem, it's the taking the gator, trailers and generally everything that isn't bolted down then chained up and electrified!
Although judging from the power cut recently, and the remains of some very bloody and charred boots that were found...
