dont use gel and acids to remove rust, especially in areas you cannot access. cci will prevent most of the corrossion you have been dealing with (especially the arches etc) from coming back.
Andystobbs. Can't seem to quote on phone ;(
They just need to be correctly seated, and aligned. Some hids aren't a direct replacement as they are longer. The actual arc takes place in the same position as the previous filament .
I believe seat are using LEDs for everything now. However they...
The beam pattern from a correctly fitted hid is identical to a halogen. The kelvin is different, and the brightness higher.
Anything remotely recent I.e 80's onwards has a cut off beam preventing blinding light.
The issue comes when Dave puts said hids in his badly aligned headlights (...
Whilst illegal there's nothing wrong with hids in halogen units.
You will be blinded by
1. New cars with auto leveling units every time they change road angle
2. Kids that put the 100w bulbs in
3. Hids that have been installed in poorly adjusted halogen units.
The talk of different beam...
The evos tend to run at about half the speed with a different design of disc. You have to use a conventional cutting disc in a higher rpm unit otherwise.
Every time I make something I have a good gander at it afterwards. The better it looks the more impressed I am.
You weave and what not on 6mm steel and have it eat into the metal a peach, so I don't see the issue of strength.
Someone like me trying to do what he does, yes I'd get a crude weak...
I only have the 180, but it's amazing. The top loading spool is great, and I can't imagine a smoother weld from another mig, because you can manipulate it fantastically. It's like colouring in not welding!
But a higher duty cycle would be nice. 4 wire feed money is wasted, although I wanted...
Yeah, from memory the one in kingswood was about £20.00 higher than it should be.
The apd one figured out about £165 all in for a 20 liter. Don't bother with a 10 if buying, as the cost saving isn't great over a 20.
Give them a call as they keep them in stock. It's a decent hit for a hobby...
The water butt would work with 50l in there.
If you want high efficiency cheap, then get a copper tubed heat exchanger from an older aircon car (range rover classic has a good one). Pond pump (make sure the pump has the lift head your using it at I.e. 4 meters up your looking at a ddc mag pc...
My old 100en was useless below 7, and horrendous above 8 on everything. Thin thick the lot. So as many have said feel free to crank the speed a little.
The weaving etc will allow you to play with how the weld looks, and spend more time on each weld without blowing through. I personally found it...
That bottom one your there mate. Your rate of improvement will now slow.
Next up start playing with the pattern you make when welding.
Forward 2 back 1, the u's as a
Ready suggested, try Z as if going vertically up the page. I find it works nicer than u's for a wider bled in bead personally...
Thanks chaps. To clean it up I used a heavy duty wire cup brush, and didn't get any spitting or anything, but the end as you can see welded very differently. And I know it wasn't as clean as it could be, as the wire wheel on the grinder had been used on all sorts and near the end of its life...
I'm still useless at tig welding. I tried doing it no filler on flat plate and struggled to undertsand what I was learning as it seemed very easy (I'm pretty good at mig, but struggle like mad with tig)
I knocked up a snorkel cover, and rather than mig decided to tig it for practice. 6mm steel...
I'm laying down beads with my oxford that I didn't think possible from a part timer. My clarke allowed me to do similar quality on short runs on 3mm steel. Anything outside of that it just couldn't do it nicely, despite my efforts at trying all sorts of different settings and techniques over 10...
I would say for hobby use, tig is a steep learning curve. Use a decent mig welder, and you can get some cracking welds, and it's easier to pick up.
Tig is great, but I believe you need to do it fairly often, I'm still struggling. I can do a great weld without filler, then it all goes to hell if...
