I did this and now it seems to be working fine! i guess when the wire first got stuck in the tip i pulled the liner up, as it was poking out, pushed it down now seems ok
it seems to happen at the tip, the mig wire seems to arc with the tip and get stuck,
on a previous welder i had when that happened the blob would pull off easily and you carry on, with this is gets stuck and renders the tip useless,

Good job on fabbing up the sheet steel! i find thats the hardest part other than welding it up. ive had many of these in the past, looked into the cutting the rear arches but always found it quicker and easier to do a spring over axle

I have already been there and done that in the past, turbo engine conversion to a Vauxhall, but I found I was forever throwing money at it, broken gearboxes, driveshafts ect, and it didn't really drive very nice although was very quick...
